Leadership Learning Facilitator, Consultant, Coach, Poet
To provide a service of attention and presence to the learning work of transforming leadership culture, you have to have embraced your own edges, engaged in deep learning/transformational conversations, let go of old images and narratives, waited in the dark places long enough for the deeper story to emerge… to “keep dreaming the world onward”…
I offer over 30 years of just such practice.
DAPA Consulting was founded in 1989, a first “middle time” shift from operations and operational line management (12 years, 1976-1988) at Air Canada to change management and organization development consulting. Since 1989, I have consulted to the profit and non-profit sectors, taught change management in the Executive and International MBA programs at the Schulich School of Business, York University (1996-2006) and mentored graduate students from University of Toronto and Royal Roads University.
I have participated in numerous deep learning groups/conversations that have been sustained through many years of growing together.Together with my learning partners, Dr. Ginny Belden-Charles and Marcia Hyatt, we co-authored a book on change management and leadership,Toward the Learning Organization: a Guide; co-founded a non-profit organization, the Center for Emerging Leadership (CEL); and a Women in Leadership program (WLC). With author Diane Yeager and the sponsorship of CEL, we edited and contributed to an anthology of women’s leadership images and stories, My Story Listens to Your Story: an Anthology of Women’s Leadership Images and Stories.
In 2004, life brought me to another edge in the wake of violence and injustice against one of my children. Born from Silence, 2007, my book of poetry and its public reading to the young people harmed, was my one “small ripple” in transforming a culture of violence and injustice toward some measure of restorative justice and healing for us all.
In 2008, I began offering Middle Time Coaching, Working Words and November Reflections as formalized services, in the retreat-like setting of my home office.
In 2011, my grown children launched, never thinking I would return to organizational consulting work, a client in an organizational system at an edgecalled… and the conversation began anew…
